What to Expect

The Beauty of Handmade Cement Tile

Every Redondo Tile Collection cement tile is individually handcrafted by skilled artisans using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations.

Unlike mass-produced ceramic or porcelain tile, no two handcrafted cement tiles are exactly alike. Slight variations in color, shade, texture, and surface character are natural characteristics of authentic handcrafted cement tile and are an inherent part of the manufacturing process.

These natural variations are not signs of poor quality or manufacturing defects. Rather, they reflect the artistry and craftsmanship that make each tile unique and contribute to the timeless beauty and character of every installation.

We encourage you to review the information below before placing your order so you know exactly what to expect when your tiles arrive and can appreciated the distinctive qualities that make handcrafted cement tile truly one of a kind.

Every Tile is Unique

Each Redondo Tile Collection cement tile is handcrafted using individual molds and a traditional manufacturing process. A mixture of marble dust and color pigments is carefully poured by hand into each mold to create the decorative pattern. Additional layers of sand and cement are then applied before each tile is compressed under high pressure using a hydraulic press and cured in water.

Because every tile is individually handcrafted, subtle variations in color, tone, and surface are a natural part of the manufacturing process.  These differences are not defects, but characteristics of authentic craftsmanship that contribute to the beauty and character of each installation.

How Our Cement Tiles Are Made

Every Redondo Tile Collection cement tile is handcrafted using traditional techniques. Unlike mass-produced tile, each piece is individually created by skilled artisans through a meticulous process of hand-pouring, hydraulic pressing, and water curing.

Natural Handmade Variations

Every Redondo Tile Collection cement tile is handcrafted, making each piece unique. Slight differences in color, shading, surface appearance, and occasional pigment bleeding are normal characteristics of handcrafted cement tile. These natural variations are part of the handmade process and contribute to the unique character of every installation.

Example of natural handmade variations

Example of natural handmade variations. Slight differences in color, shading, and surface appearance are normal characteristics of handcrafted cement tile. These variations become less noticeable once tiles are blended during installation and sealed.

Blend Tiles Before Installation

To achieve the most natural and balanced appearance, blend tiles from multiple boxes before installation. This helps distribute natural color and shade variations evenly throughout the project and creates a more consistent finished look.

Order Extra Tiles

We recommend ordering extra tiles with your original purchase. Additional tiles are helpful for cuts during installation, future design changes, or if replacement tiles are ever needed. Because handcrafted cement tiles are made in batches, slight color and shade variations may occur between production runs.

Installation Matters

Handcrafted cement tile should be installed by an experienced tile installer following industry best practices. Proper installation, sealing, and maintenance are essential to achieving the best appearance and long-term performance.

Inspect Tiles Before Installation

Please inspect all tiles before installation. Installation constitutes acceptance of the product. Because handcrafted cement tiles naturally vary in color, shading, and surface appearance, dry-laying and blending tiles before installation is strongly recommended to achieve the best overall result.
